Mode conditioning fiber cables are specialized jumpers designed to provide stable connections when single mode laser transmitters are used with existing multimode fiber networks. These cables help prevent differential mode delay by slightly offsetting the light launch into the multimode core, creating a performance similar to a multimode LED source. They are especially important in 1000BASE LX or 10GBASE LR setups running over older OM1 or OM2 multimode cables where signal quality and distance can otherwise be reduced. Made with a short segment of single mode fiber joined to multimode fiber, these cables deliver low insertion loss and follow IEEE 8023 standards. They support common connector options such as LC , SC, ST and MTRJ.
